Adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) of cardiovascular events for individuals with incident diabetes (diagnosed 2014–2016, followed up until 2018) with a prior outpatient screening test versus those without a prior outpatient screening test. Hazard ratios are adjusted for age, sex, neighbourhood income quintile, hypertension, dyslipidemia, neighbourhood smoking, cancer, asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, peripheral vascular disease, dementia, liver disease, chronic kidney disease, and number of family physician visits in the year prior to diabetes diagnosis and history of hospitalization or emergency department visit for a mood/psychotic disorder in prior 5 years.
