  1. Control (C) or STZ-induced diabetic (D) rats were either untreated or treated with N-acetylcysteine (1.5 g/kg/day, D + NAC) by oral gavage for 4 weeks. All the results are expressed as mean ± SD, n = 8. Differences in general characteristics among the three groups were determined by using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test
