Effects of insulin or phlorizin on the gene expression of cardiac K
channels in STZ-treated rats with 8 weeks of diabetes. The upper panel is the autoradiograph resulting from Northern blotting of the cardiac SUR-2A (A), Kir6.2 (B) mRNA or β-actin in hearts isolated from these diabetic rats treated with insulin (0.5 IU) or phlorizin (1 mg/kg) three times daily for 4 days. The vehicle used to dissolve the test medications was given in the same volume. Similar results were obtained with an additional 5 replications.
