Red intra-luminal staining indicates presence of fatty streaks. Insert in bottom picture shows histological detail (hematoxylin-eosin staining) of fatty streak (4 × magnification). The intimal area of this part of the vessel wall consists of multiple cellular layers with empty little spaces where fat was deposited.
