Suggested chronological events in type II diabetes. Inflammatory markers that are known to be dysregulated in diabetes (1); and to cause oxidative stress (2); resulting in chronic (systemic) inflammation (3); that have been associated with hypercoagulability (4). Dysregulations, as indicated by 1 to 4 have all been found in diabetes type II (5); 1 to 5 are early indicators of vascular dysfunction (6). Literature references are given in Table 1.
