Improved vasoreactivity of carotids arteries by metformin in fructose-induced insulin-resistant rats. A) The vasocontraction of the carotid artery in response to phenylephrine increased 4 weeks after balloon injury compared with uninjured controls in insulin-resistant rats (■ injured carotids, □ uninjured carotids). Treatment with metformin attenuated the contraction ( ).
